Same-sex couples immigration
Can same sex couples benefit from immigration law? Yes, the law has changed and now same sex couples can apply for the same immigration benefits as heterosexual couples.
The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) used to state that federal benefits were only available for heterosexual married couples. The ruling from 2013 made DOMA unconstitutional and therefore, same-sex couples have now the same rights as any other couple.
As an LGBTQ+ immigration lawyer, my objective is to let immigrants know that their rights matter. Our team is here to help immigrants get their legal status and make them feel supported throughout the whole process. Our track record of success in processing the most complex cases is evidence that we are not afraid to take a challenge, especially when related to the LGBT+ community.
